Just Us Guys, Inc.
ABOUT US
Creating Meaningful Impact for our children, our community and cancer patients.
Before there was ever a "community center " in North Athens, there was Pete's Candy store located at the corner of Needmore and Prince Streets. The one room candy shoppe for kids was also a getaway for a few northside dads, retireees and domino players to meet up for a friendly game or two during the week, without the wives.
These domino games were the common thread bringing forward thinking minds together to create an organization to serve the citizens of the community. Believing that charity begins in the home, they decreed Pete's Candy Store as headquarters until they would have their own facility. Thanks to the efforts of then city council person, Carl U. Westbrook and a municipal grant, land was acquired and the ground was broken on what would become the Just Us Guys, Inc., world headquarters located on Edmondson Avenue
just two blocks away from where it all started
Our mission....
Since our launch in 1980, the team at JUGS, Inc. has worked tirelessly to promote our cause. We are fortunate to have volunteers and staff from all walks of life who bring their unique expertise and resources into everything we do. This is what enables us to achieve our goals year after year.. Through a partnership with the city of Athens, we worked to overhaul O. D. Baggett Park in North Athens to provide a safe place for recreation for our children. Since 1987, we have donated in excess of $10,000 in educational scholarships to local graduates and as of 2022, we have included assistance to cancer patients through gas cards, co-payment assistance and childcare costs for doctor visits.
While there is always more that can be done, there is no doubt that we are making a significant impact. We don’t measure our success through just facts and figures, but through happy faces and heartwarming feedback.
See how you can become part of the difference we make in our community, our children and our friends with cancer..
